Please Note** Beginning July 2025, customers who do not reside in Louisa County will be assessed a $10 convenience fee for driver’s license services unless they pay property taxes in Louisa County. This will be verfied by looking up the property tax payment if proof is not provided. Collection of the convenience fee is pursant to Iowa Code 321M.9
The County Treasurer’s Office issues Driver License in our office by appointment Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. Walk ins are welcome and will be worked in between appointments if time allows. Knowledge Tests are given first come first serve Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Drive tests are given by appointment on Wednesdays. Call ahead for Holiday Closings.
Driver’s licenses can be renewed 30 days before or 60 days after your birthday.

Persons with Disabilities placards are issued in office and require a letter from your physician and an application to be completed. The application can be found on the DOT website or you can pick one up in our office. There is no charge for a Persons with Disabilities Placard. To receive a Persons with Disabilities plate the documents needed are the same but we will also need your old plates and registration for the vehicle they are to go on.
